JUDGING PROCESS

All submissions will be assessed anonymously. The identity of the entrants will only be revealed once the judges have confirmed the winners. When making their assessments, the judges will have regard to the following criteria and requirements:

AESTHETIC MERIT
The product needs to display design that is aesthetically focused yet functional, showing a real understanding of its uses and prospective users. Judges will consider whether the product could add to contemporary practice in Australia.

FUNCTIONALITY
Design must show a real understanding of the functionality of the product.

COMPLIANCE
Must meet relevant design and legislative standards - Australian Standards, Watermark, WELS or BCA.

The judges' decisions will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. If an entry or entrant is found to be invalid, the judging shall be repeated. The judges will make their decisions by 30 July 2010. Prizes will be awarded at the judges' absolute discretion. There will be no obligation on the judging panel to award either the student or professional prize if they so decide.
