Tim Collins, Protective Nest Vessel

The two components of this bath have very different emotional functions; the inner which cradles the water and naked body, and the outer, which shelters the seemingly delicate internal.

The vessel component takes its form from the idea of the natural weight of water sculpting the rigid internal to a cocoon of bathing pleasure. The internal is a 15mm solid surface, acrylic composite material. Its silk-like qualities are the optimum material for soft skin contact.

The material is durable and has a warm to touch feeling. It can be formed either by casting or thermoforming. The structural, protective nest is made from a chrome plated brass. There is a void around the top of the bath to allow towels to be hung.
